In August 2016, Instagram launched a "Stories" feature that allows people to post the highlights of their day, which disappear after 24 hours. They appear at the top of your followers' Instagram feed, eliminating the need for you to build a new set of followers just for your stories. The feature is very similar to Snapchat stories.
Several news organizations have jumped on the feature and used it to cover major events, like the Rio 2016 Olympics. See here for examples of good Instagram storytelling in the newsroom.
